Janesville
Joe Roesling was born in 1862 in Janesville. He made his living as a carpenter. He moved to San Francisco in 1907, the year after the earthquake. Besides helping rebuild the city, he became one of the top decoy makers in the area. During his years in Wisconsin he also made decoys, developing a style that served him well in later years. He made decoys in the Koshkonong style while also reheading and repairing the local club birds. He died in California in 1944.
