Steven "Jupe" Houman

1932-2011

Steven  "Jupe" Houman, was born on April 30, 1932, in Hudson WI. He graduated from Hudson High School, where he had been a member of the boxing team. From 1952-1954, he served in the U.S. Navy where he performed construction and engineering duties. On Oct. 28, 1952, he was  married to Helen Ann Johnson and later had seven children. After the Navy he worked in construction and later owned his own construction company that he retired from.

Jupe was a life member and active volunteer of the Hudson Rod, Gun, and Archery Club where he participated in shooting trap and skeet, he also assisted with the youth day programs. He was a member of the Minnesota Decoy Collectors Association, the Midwest Decoy Collectors Association and a life member of the North American Trap Collectors Association.  Mr. Houman was passionate about woodcarving and was an avid collector of traps, fish baits and duck decoys, enjoyed hunting with coon dogs, deer hunting, fishing, trapping and gardening. Mr. Houman was well known in his community and people say he could talk your ear off. He passed away on June 1, 2011.
